Higher ultraviolet light exposure is associated with lower mortality: An analysis of data from the 2024 UK biobank cohort study
A 2024 study by the University of Edinburgh, analyses data from 360,000 individuals in the UK Biobank cohort to explore the link between ultraviolet (UV) light exposure and mortality rates among older adults in the UK.
The research found that higher UV exposure was associated with lower mortality rates from all causes, including cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer. These findings suggest that in low-sunlight regions, the benefits of UV exposure may outweigh the potential risks.
At Consol, we prioritise safe and responsible tanning. Our sunbeds comply with all British and European consumer safety regulations, and our bulbs are regulated to a maximum UV output of 0.3, in line with EU-approved standards.
